Do You Believe Your Horoscopes?

by Jen on February 24, 2010

Do you read your horoscopes?  I generally don’t.  But whilst seeking out some post inspiration for Hush last night I decided to check out my horoscope.

I’m a pisces.  I couldn’t tell you what that means or how I’m supposed to be with that (personality traits and things), but I can tell you that yesterday’s Cosmo horoscope seemed a little hopeful (although the horoscope I actually want to be mine was the one for Aries, can I swap?).

Pisces

When the Sun is in Pisces, your own sign, you get the attention. And you get it for your secret self or hidden life at the moment or, if you prefer, your spirit, soul and psyche. What makes you tick? What little signals have you been sending us? Someone is very curious. But will you reveal all?

Horoscopes never fail to freak me out a bit.  I hardly ever read horoscopes, but when I do I can always relate them to something, or someone, but I guess that’s the beauty of writing them, right?  Whatever you write there’s always going to be someone who can relate to it or twist their story or situation to fit the thought that their horoscope, if it’s good, might come true, right again?

Well…did you read my horoscope?  My “secret self”…is that not what this blog is?  It’s even in the title!  So…where is this attention coming from then?  I’ve not seen it yet!

Do your horoscopes ever ring true?

hmmm… I get a bit torn with this.
I AM a typical Cancerian in every sense, that I believe…but as far as the actual horoscopes go, I’m not sure. They’re always a little to vague and can apply to anyone…and I find that if I read it I spend all day waiting for whatever they said to happen.
That said, I read mine in my Look magazine yesterday and I SO hope it comes true!! haha

I’ve never really followed astrology. I am a Virgo and have no idea what that means. I’ve always just read my horoscopes for fun and nothing more.

I do believe in horoscopes, to a point, but I do also think it’s easy to look through them carefully in order to find certain points that can apply to our lives..if that makes any sense. I have had a few that were spookily bang on though. What was the Aries one that was so good? I’m an Aries, so I’m curious!

I’ll admit, I do follow my horoscope. I’m right on the cusp of Cancer/Leo so I was always a little curious. I don’t base my life around it, but when you either do your own chart or get it done there are some eerie similarities.

yes, i read my horoscope (and blog boy’s) almost every morning. sometimes they’re completely true, sometimes they’re not….

i do believe there is some truth to astrology–i don’t think it’s the end all be all and i think our upbringing and personal expereinces can also affect the people we are… in a sense that’s more powerful than our sign.

I don’t believe in horoscopes but they have came true sometimes. Because let’s face it, you have 1/12 (approx) of the world’s population with the same starsign therefore there will be SOME People out there who can apply their life to the vague horoscope!

Hmmm, well my horriscope holds some truth. I always used to date guys who had b-days in March or November.

Well, I study psychology & I am interested in peoples’ personalities, so I believe in horoscopes that are general and told depending on your birth date, those in magazines, like daily or weekly..mm..there is some things maybe…but mostly they are the same every time.

I read mine all the time. Sometimes they’re creepily true, and other times it’s like, what the fuck are you people talking about..

Sometimes I read them and laugh, sometimes I read them and wonder how they could be so spot on and sometime’s I read them and wish they were true.

In a biology class I took, we watched this video on astrology (kind of off the subject now that I think of it) and a teacher handed everyone’s horoscopes out. He asked them all to raise their hands on how accurate each person’s horoscope was. Well, everyone raised their hand.

He then asked for everyone to pass their horoscope to the person behind them and for everyone to do the same. Once again, all hands raised.

Showing that horoscopes are generalizations…i have not read them the same since. But still, I often read them when say, I want it to tell me the guy i’m in lust with will come confess his love for me, or when money will land in my lap.

Everyone needs a little boost now and then right?
