I Neeeeeeeed Sleep!!

How’d the Twitter thing work out for you?  Slightly better than nothing to look at?  Slightly better than a long post?  A little irritating because it created a post for each Twitter?  Trust me, it would’ve been worse if there was good (phone) reception at this place!

First things first.  The wedding was excellent!  Unbelievably boiling and busy but definitely excellent.  there was plenty of eating, drinking, singing, dancing, bit more eating and lots of fun.

This is where the wedding was…

It’s a 14th Century castle (but a pretty small one compared to others we’ve been to) set in 30 acres of green land with a river running through the middle.  In the grounds there were lots of cottages…leading to where we stayed…

It was the little white door next to the window surrounded by a bush!  I’m so good at descriptions!

The only pictures I’ve uploaded so far are the ones from my twitpic account so that’s all you’re going to see, apart from the very last photo!  It’s special!

The official part of the wedding took place in the castle itself and we then went to a small 6th century chapel, in the grounds, for the blessing.

I’ve never been to such an organised wedding!  It’s not all that surprising when the bride is a stage manager and the groom is a (tour) lighting engineer (having been touring with Oasis until last Wednesday).  It was quite incredible.  Every detail had been planned which meant there was nothing for the bride and groom to have to think about on the day – it just all seemed to slide into place nicely.

It had been forecast to rain pretty much the whole weekend and everyone had taken an umbrella but it was possibly the hottest weekend of the year so far and they definitely were not needed.

Ensued (I believe this was the robot)

After an extremely late night we were up early for breakfast and then left around lunchtime for home…arriving home with a Chinese takeout literally seconds before the Year Yeah Yeahs got on stage at Glastonbury!!!  I’ve not always been known for my timing.

The final picture of the day is this…

On the Friday evening we went to a pub about a mile from the Castle.  Well, it was a mile if you went through a field and more like 2 miles if you took the road.  So getting there was fine, we all trekked accross the field (it was dry and hot).  On the way back however it was raining, pitched black and shortly after midnight.  As we went around a bend there was a really noisy stampede type sound coming from behind a hedge (which is pretty scary in the dark!) and we were met by some big, hungry and noisy cows!!  There was a massive one at the back of the pack, who I am pretty positive was getting a “piggy back” from another cow, but I was assured he was just a genetic mutation and really was “that tall”.

I’m not back to reality and wondering what to do next as I have run out of summer plans now.  No more weddings, no holidays….no nothing!  Back at work…but at least it’s hot outside.

Footnote:  I’ve actually set up my Twitter acc to do a weekly digest of all my tweets (minus @replies, I think) on a Sunday – meaning that when I’m slack and don’t blog on a Sunday you get something, but also if you aren’t on Twitter you get the delights on my nonsense 140 character ramblings!

Want more like this??

I would love to have seen that trek across the field…weren’t you all in nice clothes and stuff? I think I might have peed a little with the “tall cow” description.

Yep, we were all dressed up and probably looked really silly. The grass had been cut though so that was a bonus! The tall cow was quite amazing!

Drinking and dancing? Sounds like fun to me! Glad the wedding went well.

I think drinking and dancing could possibly be the greatest things on earth…singing…not so much!

A weekly twitter update. That’s a pretty good idea.

How did the outfits work out for the shindig?

Oooh, I forgot that bit! I wore the grey dress during the day and white linen trousers and grey top for the evening! I felt like the Queen getting changed before the evening…she and I clearly have a lot in common!
