January 1st 2010….As Promised

AUGUST – The Great Blogging Drought Begins

- I didn’t have a proper reason not to blog and so for some reason it was just easier to stop.  With massive pressures at work I literally just couldn’t think of anything to say.  End of explanation!

SEPTEMBER

- The most horrendous month of work EVER!  New management, new rules, new ideas and new problems (lots of them!).  3 people handed in their resignations and 2 temporary contracts were going to be withdrawn.  No vacant posts to be filled, therefore existing staff would have to pick up the extra work despite already working to capacity.

- Discovery of Blinx TV – this allowed me to catch up on many months of TV I’d missed!!

- Fell in love with Chuck Bass all over again.

- Someone who had been off work with “stress” since June came back.  She wasn’t particularly nice and made sure she told everyone that if we didn’t talk to her she’d report us to Human Resources!!!  I cannot explain to you how I feel about this.  I honestly do not agree with people being off sick, on full pay, for so called “work related stress”…when actually it’s the rest of us who are stressed…but we’re actually at work!!  Anyhoo…she lasted 3 days, had a row with our manager and went off again…guess what…with stress!!

OCTOBER

- Twilight changed my life.  After months of boycotting (purely on principle that it was being talked about too much, not on any merits of the series) I gave in and discovered that Edward Cullen is to be my future husband!

- By the end of October 8 people had given their notice at work, leaving 6 of us to do the work of 14!

NOVEMBER

- Demanded Twilight saga for Christmas

- Plucked up the courage to access COASK and realised I had over 4,000 spam comments to delete!!!  Possibly the most soul destroying afternoon of my life!!

- Checked a few of my favourite blogs and realised I clearly wasn’t the only person no longer blogging!!!

- Decided that 2010 will be a better internetting year for me and I will coax Andi to re-start the Hush with me in January (fingers crossed!)!

-  Started to read the odd blog post again

-  Realised somewhere through my blogcation that I “marked all as read” because my reader is only full from October (?? perhaps it was a blind rage!).

DECEMBER

- A blur!!  I’ve always loved Christmas (I class the whole of December as Christmas).  I believe that my Dad was the original Santa Claus because he always went over-the-top-crazy at Christmas.  This year I wasn’t really very excited, organised or feeling Christmassy at all.  Non-work related problems were bogging me down a bit!!

-  That job offer happened.

- Really awkward time at work as the person on long term “stress” related sick came back…3 days prior to the 6 months cut off for full pay (after 6 months it goes to half pay, 9 months to a quarter and then 12 months to no pay).  So, she’d been off for 6 months (minus 3 days), came back for 2 days and then took 2 weeks off for Christmas.  She isn’t due back until next Thursday!  Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, she gets to keep her 6 weeks annual leave!!!  Boy, am I glad I will be moving to the new job soon!!!

-  Got poorly a week before Christmas and only just managed to finish my Christmas shopping.  Although getting poorly meant I had loads of time to watch Christmas films, snuggle on the sofa with Tatty and I even did some baking!!!  I know!!  Me…baking?  A miracle!!  That’s another future post though.

-  Christmas came with a large volume of gifts, food and drink…and then went!  So sad that it goes so quick.  Oh, and I got the Twilight Saga…very excited to get 5 minutes peace to start that bad boy!!

- Fantastic new year at a Wii party.  I bought Let’s Tap for the occasion and I think it’s just made my life complete!!  It.  Is.  Amazing!!  I absolutely love it and have spent hours laughing hysterically today!!

That’s about it really.  A pretty ordinary few months.  In fact, pretty boring is a better way to put it.  Let’s hope I can shake things up for 2010!!!

What have you been getting up to???

P.S Tatty is my cat if you’re new here!!

Want more like this??

Oh good God, when I read the comment about your “stressed” colleague, it reminded me so much of a girl I used to work with. She used to either come back to work right before her sick pay was cut in half OR . . . two days before there was a work night out. She would then be off sick again the following week for an indefinite period. You must be so relieved to be escaping that!!!

A Wii party for New Year sounds fab!

I think every workplace has one (or if you’re really unlucky, a few!). I just find the whole thing crazy!! Wii + drinking + food + friends = perfect night!! Although, if you read this post you might not agree haha xx
