Normally I LOVE Friday’s, but today has so far (and it’s only 10:45) been the worst Friday (in work) ever!!!! Friday mornings are generally nice and quiet, I have a clear desk (kind of) and I can actually get on with some work!!
Today has been non-stop since the second I sat down and I can see it carrying on this way! That woman in my office is annoying the bejesus out of me, the phone wont stop (although, so far, no-one has asked my name) and there seem to be pieces of paper all over the place.
I was hoping to get some “extra-curricular” (read: blogging) things done today whilst at work but it’s not looking too likely….we’ll see though!
————————————————————-
I’m back, doing “extra curricular” stuff! Woo hoo! So, this is what it feels like to be paid for blogging!? Feels good.
Anyhoo, I forgot to tell you about something traumatic that happened shortly before Christmas!! As you may, or may not, know I love to take photos! I’m extremely amateur and do not claim to be good….but when I take a photo I like the results I see. In fact, I never knew it was possible to take a bad photo until I saw some of the ones my dad took over Christmas (he tries though!). Hmm…perhaps I should post some of Dad’s to make mine look better? Maybe I will!!
I broke my camera. My beloved DSLR…is no more! Absolutely devastated! Goodbye Canon Eos 550d…I loved you a lot! Unfortunately I cannot afford to replace thee just yet (due to January being the worst month, financially, of the year). One day we will be together again. These are some of the last photos I took….hmm, I wonder if you can guess how I broke my camera!?

(You might be able to see these (and more) bigger photos here)
In other news, I’ve taken to having the radio on in my office, mainly so I can ignore that woman if she comes in…yes, I truly am that immature! Ok, so I just re-read that and I cannot believe my “valid” reason to be able to ignore her whilst at work is “I’m listening to the radio” – anyone want to validate this for me because I’m struggling to be able to!!
Anyway, I’m learning a lot having the radio on. Can you believe the “government” (whose I do not know) are considering paying the Taliban to swap sides? WTF? Firstly, who will actually be paying for this? If it’s tax payers (one which I am one) I want my money back! Secondly, who says they aren’t just going to run off with my tax paid pennies????? Hmm, if I was in the Taliban (which I’m not…in case you didn’t get that memo), I would totally run off with the money!! The other thing I’ve learnt today? A nurse has been sacked for posting photos of operations on Facebook! Maybe she couldn’t afford a holiday last year?
Finally, I think I’ve figured out the cupcake / cookie / valentines day thing!! Stay tuned and I might send you a present (and we all love gifts / snail mail!!). Anyhoo, I’ll post that next week – but if you’re interested (you don’t have to be single) email me at awolat25@gmail.com, just leave a comment, wait for the actual post…or I am all for carrier pigeons, although I would prefer a dove, and no actually snails please.
That’s all.

I had no idea the US Gov wanted to pay the Taliban to switch sides! I did hear that they wanted to pay smaller cells of “good Taliban” to simply stay out of the conflict and deny aide to Al-Qaeda cells operating in the “good Taliban” tribal regions.
“Good Taliban” are those Taliban cells that currently run/control many of the rural areas of Afghanistan. They’re considered “good” because they have yet to formally take any offensive action against US & coalition troops.
I’m no military strategist, but apparently the gov wants to provide them with pay to stifle AlQaeda aide & support in these regions. AlQaeda members walk into small farming villages and offer 2x or even 3x the money these villagers normally make in exchange for their service/support against the US.
I too am a bit perturbed about this, I don’t want my tax money going to Afghan poppy farmers! At the same time…if a few hundred dollars helps prevent the loss of even one soldier’s life, then I’m all for it.

Woah! The response I was kind of thinking would come to that post was “did your camera drown?” or “I’ll have a cookie!”….but I. Am. Impressed!! I’m not sure it was the US government proposing to pay off the Taliban – but, as the radio is still on, I will let you know if it comes up again!! I was imagining it to be a lot more than just a few hundred dollars or whatever…I suppose we’ll just have to wait and see!
I’m having one of “those” Fridays too. I slept in (having two bottles of rose last night probably wasn’t a good idea), didn’t get in here til five to ten (thank Christ for flexi time), have been rushed off my feet all day and now feel like going to sleep, not going out which is what I AM doing tonight. Damn. I think I’ll go home now before I ramble any further!
Oh and I’m obviously totally interested in anything that involves sugar!

The whole day went down a bit like that!! So glad it’s over. I have my duvet, a stack of DVDs, copious amounts of alcohol (if I feel the need) and my PJs!!! Weekends really do rock!! Don’t worry, there will be suragy delights coming your way!! x
